The Cancer Garden of Hope is being created by the Conquer Cancer Coalition in partnership with the City of Boston. Located on City Hall Plaza, The Garden will be the largest of its kind in the country.
Thrive is pleased to announce that through the generosity of former Thriver Lisa Lynn Bissett's family, an anchor garden was donated by the Bissett family as a tribute to Lisa, a young woman who lost her 6 year battle with breast cancer in 2007. The family also wants to recognize Thrive, all young women facing breast cancer, and the unsung heroes who help them navigate that journey.
Lisa Lynn Bissett was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001 at age 31. Lisa was an active Thrive contributor serving on both the Communications Committee and in Keeping Abreast. Many Thrivers met Lisa through these activities as well as Thrive's Support Group for Young Women at The Wellness Community. For more on Lisa's story, click HERE.
This portion of the garden, which borders Cambridge Street, will include over 300 commemorative bricks each of which can include up to 4 lines of text. Thrivers, their friends and family, have the opportunity to purchase bricks in the Lisa Lynn Bissett Memorial Garden section of The Cancer Garden of Hope.
Bricks in the Lisa Lynn Bissett Memorial Garden are available through Thrive for a donation of $100 each. Thanks to the generosity of the Bissett family, all proceeds from the sale of bricks in the Lisa Lynn Bissett Memorial Garden will benefit THRIVE.
To purchase a commemorative brick in memory of someone, or to honor someone living with cancer or a special caregiver, please visit the Garden of Hope website.
